Cardio Training to Build Strength and Power
The TPC Fitness Center is outfitted with Technogym cardio equipment. Many of these pieces are equipped with resistance feature so you can use them for strength and power training. In today’s video I’ll show you how use the Skillmill treadmill and Skillrow machine to build strength and power. The videos will help you with good form and technique.
Skillmill Sled Push – This is a great exercise to build leg and knee strength. In the video I describe two options of pushing with straight arms or resting your forearms on the supports. Start with 3-5 one minute intervals with 30 to 60 seconds of rest between reps. Set the machine to full resistance.
Skillmill Backwards Walking – The backwards walk will help you build knee strength. Start with 3-5 one-minute intervals with 30 to 60 seconds of rest between reps. Set the machine to full resistance.
Skillmill Single Leg Power Intervals – Make sure you’ve warmed up before performing any power exercise. Set the machine to no resistance. Start by getting the treadmill moving, then for 5 to 10 seconds, using one leg move the track as fast as you can. Rest for 60-90 seconds then go again and don’t forget to train both legs. Start with 3-6 intervals in a workout.
Skillrow Power Intervals – Make sure you’ve warmed up before performing any power exercise. Set the machine to no resistance. Start by rowing slowly, then for 5 to 10 seconds, row as fast and powerfully as you can. Rest for 60-90 seconds. Start with 3-6 intervals in a workout.
