Lunge Variations

Keys to a good lunge…

  • Always keep your feet hip with apart. Keep your feet on a train track not a tight rope.
  • 60% of your weight should be on your front leg, 40% on the back leg.
  • Let your front knee go forward past your toes during the exercise.

Lunge Options

  • Split Squat is the best way to learn good lunge for since your staying in the lunge and only moving up and down.
  • Step Backs are the next step lunge level. Alternate from one side to the other using the same form as the split squat.
  • Walking Lunges are an advanced lunge movement walking forward doing alternating lunges.
  • Gorsha Lunge is very advanced as it puts a lot of load into the front leg since your back leg is elevated.
